Boo Boos

Dear Aidan,

Yesterday you fell off the couch at the babysitter's and cut your head open on the coffee table. Not cool, buddy. You were screaming and bleeding, and poor Anna and I had no idea how bad your injury was. I wet ahead and took you to the emergency room which may sound like a little bit of an over reaction, but I was scared. Really scared. Mama doesn't do blood very well, and she definitely does not like to see you in so much pain. You ended up getting four staples in your little head. I thought needles and stitches were bad, but the staples were definitely worse. The nurse and I had to hold you tiny body down while the doctor closed you up. You did get a pretty cool teddy bear out of the deal and your very own slushy that you didn't have to share with me or Daddy (although, I did steal a sip when you weren't looking; sorry about that).

Can we make an agreement though? I know you're going to get hurt again. I fully expect it and will try to lessen the pain and keep you from getting seriously injured when it's within my ability to do so. But next time, let's try to not need a visit to the ER until after you turn five. Or at least do that kind of stuff in front of Daddy instead. He might not handle the situation any better, but at least I won't have to be the one holding you down.

Love,
Mama

(I meant to post this on the 6th, but life was a little crazy)
