When Daddy and I found out we were pregnant with you, we were so thrilled and excited. We wondered if you were going to be a boy or a girl. We wondered what your favorite colors would be. We wondered what kind of music you'd like to listen to. We wondered if there was ever going to come a day that we'd love you more than we already did. Every day we love you even more than the day before.
We eagerly anticipated each milestone: your first smile, your first roll over, sitting up, crawling, walking, talking. Now we're at your first birthday, and we couldn't be more proud, happy, and a little sad. One day very soon, you'll be going to your first day of school. Then you'll be learning how to drive, graduating high school, maybe college or the Armed Forces, getting married, and possibly having babies of your own.
As you grow and learn and become the man you're destined to be, I want you to always keep the words of Dr. Seuss close to your heart. You are the only you that is ever going to exist in this world, and Daddy and I are so much richer for having you as our son.
